ABOUT NALP

NALP is the longest running professional membership body for paralegals in the UK (established in 1987). NALP is also a qualifications awarding body regulated by Ofqual (the Government body that accredits nationally recognised qualifications in England) offering recognised paralegal qualifications through its accredited Centres nationally and internationally. Additionally, NALP is an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) for Paralegal Apprenticeships and is part of the Trailblazer Group dedicated to ensuring Occupational Standards for paralegal apprentices are fully reflected in the apprenticeship being offered and the assessments taken.

ABOUT THE ROLE

NALP requires a part-time Membership and Centre Liaison Administrator to work directly with our CEO dealing with enquiries from Members and Centres, plus associated administrative tasks.

This role is part office based (near Aberystwyth) but mainly you will be able to work from home (after an initial training period). You will use Teams to liaise with others in the business.

You must be comfortable using Microsoft 365 (including Word, Teams, Outlook, Excel etc.) and be comfortable and confident on the phone, as part of your role will be answering incoming phone calls.

As well as a good hourly rate we offer a pleasant, friendly working environment, negotiable hours, on-the-job training, and the ability to work from home after the initial training period.

This is a permanent post and not suitable for someone looking for a short-term contract. Previous work experience is essential. The role is also suitable for someone returning to work after a career break.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Dealing with phone enquiries regarding membership and qualifications
  • Answering email enquiries regarding membership and qualifications
  • Sending out assignments to Centres when requested – this is done via our Centre Portal
  • Sending completed assignments to the Chief Examiner for assessment – this is done via our Centre Portal
  • Liaising with the CEO, Compliance Admin and other team members regularly via phone/Teams
  • Dealing with requests, appeals and other queries from Centres
  • Liaising with our Compliance Department as required
  • Tracking apprenticeships using our Apprentice Gateway
  • Tracking Centre enrolments and advising the accounts department regarding invoicing required

HOURS

Part-time permanent: 15-20 hours per week Monday – Friday (times to be agreed, but must be during normal office hours)

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

Essential:

  • A minimum of two years’ work experience
  • Computer literacy especially with Microsoft 365
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Excellent, friendly and helpful phone manner
  • Friendly and personable attitude and ability to work well as part of the team
  • Self-motivated to deliver an excellent service when working from home
  • Polite, reliable and willing to communicate
  • Receptive to on-the-job training, and comfortable learning online software applications (training is given)

Desirable:

  • Previous experience as an administrator/office worker/customer relations
  • Experience using other software packages
  • Previous experience working with databases

REMUNERATION

£12.50 per hour for the first six months (which will be the probationary period) rising to £13.00 per hour once probation is completed.
